Demi Lovato is the Star of the Stage!

You saw her make her first big breakthrough in Camp Rock, then star in her own hit Disney TV series, Sonny with a Chance, and her newly premiered Disney movie, Princess Protection Program alongside her best friend Selena Gomez. You may have seen her on tour last summer with the Jonas Brothers, but now for the first time, Demi Lovato is out on her own headlining tour also featuring American Idol’s David Archuleta and opening act KSM. I was lucky enough to go to one of her shows at the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ to experience the thrill and excitement of watching one of my favorite performers live!
After a half hour wait watching the stage get set up, finally the lights dimmed and the anticipation was over. Colorful lights lit the stage and a puff of smoke lifted as the music started and Demi came rising from under the stage dressed in a yellow t-shirt, white gemmed vest, black skinny jeans and heels, opening with her second hit single, “La La Land”. However, as the song went on, the crowd heard no words coming from Demi! Apparently there were some technical difficulties with the microphone! But that didn’t stop Demi. She kept going and interacting with the crowd as if nothing was wrong at all. Then halfway through the song, problem solved! The microphone started working again. By the end of the song, Demi laughed it off and decided to do the song one more time.
She swiftly transitioned into her next song, the theme from Sonny with a Chance, “So Far So Great”. She danced and ran around the whole stage with great energy as different scenes from the TV show displayed on the screen behind her. Demi really had the crowd going as they clapped and sang along with her. She knows how to grab her audience’s attention and keep them involved.
Demi sang songs from her Don’t Forget album such as “Gonna Get Caught” and “Until You’re Mine”. Fans were also treated to brand new songs from her upcoming album, Here We Go Again, such as “Can’t Stop the World”, “Natural Woman”, “Behind Enemy Lines”, “You Got Nothin’ On Me”, “Every Time You Lie” and her newest hit single, “Here We Go Again”. Demi also sang “Catch Me” while playing along on her guitar. But oops! “Uh oh I forget the words!” She laughed. Like a true performer comfortable on a stage, she just kept going anyway.
Demi dedicated “Two Worlds Collide” to her best friend Selena Gomez and plugged the Princess Protection Program, which debuted on Disney on June 26th. Half way through the show, Demi went for a quick costume change into a cute pink dress with black tights and black heels.
One of the highlights of the night was Demi’s performance of “Don’t Forget”! She sang the song with lots of emotion and energy. To close the show, she sang her first hit single, “Get Back”. Demi put a great end to the show exiting back down waving bye to the fans as she sank back down under the stage.
Although there were some technical difficulties in the beginning, and some forgotten lyrics, Demi was a great sport, laughed it off and continued to rock on! As Demi said during the show, “Everyone has their off days!”
